About GoodPing

GoodPing is a small, deliberately unglamorous set of network tools: it checks whether a site is up, how quickly it answers, and whether its DNS, certificate, headers and email records are in order. It also monitors sites for free and emails you when something changes.

How the checks work

Every check runs live from a single server in London when you press the button. We make a real HTTPS request with a real TLS handshake, send real ICMP pings, and query DNS directly. Nothing is simulated and nothing is served from a database of yesterday\'s results — the only caching is a 60-second window on the "is it down" pages, which exists so that a rush of visitors during an outage does not add load to a service that is already struggling.

One location, stated honestly

Plenty of tools claim checks from dozens of cities. We check from one, and we say so. A single honest vantage point answers the question that matters — is this site reachable from somewhere that is not your network — and it does not pretend to a global probe network that does not exist. If you need genuine multi-region monitoring with SLAs, buy a product built for it; we would rather tell you that than sell you a worse version of it.

What we do not do

No user-reported outage graphs — a spike of angry posts is not evidence, and it cannot tell you whether the problem is DNS or a dead certificate. No accounts for the tools. No tracking scripts, no advertising networks, no selling of the domains people look up. No SMS alerts or on-call rotas, because doing those properly costs money and this is free.

Who runs it

GoodPing is operated by Verivello Ltd from the United Kingdom. Questions, bug reports and corrections are welcome at the contact page — particularly corrections: if a tool reports something wrong, we want to know.

Limits and fair use

Checks are rate-limited per visitor to keep the service available to everyone. Free monitoring allows three sites per email address. The tools are for diagnosing servers you own or have permission to test; they are not for scanning networks that are not yours.
